This scene is from Symbolic Journey, the design jury’s top choice in the Rockwall County Veterans Memorial design contest. Shown in this design by Dan Fletcher is a wall of polished stone. Fletcher’s design calls for a letter written by Abraham Lincoln to be inscribed in the stone. The letter was written to Mrs. Bixby, the mother of five sons who had died “gloriously on the field of battle.”
