Camerons invite all friends to 67th anniversary celebration

When Raymond Cameron and Elizabeth Rochell were set up on a blind date they had no idea they would make it to a 67th wedding anniversary. In fact, they weren’t quite sure they would make it back to town that night.
They had gone out on a blind date in Raymond’s $12 Model T that had no lights, brakes, top or license plates.
With a car full of friends from college (what is now Texas A&M; - Commerce), the car stalled while driving across a bridge in the country. Finally a girl from Mount Pleasant cranked it fast enough to get it going. Unfortunately, they could only get the car to go into reverse, so they backed the car all the way back to town to get the girls home for the evening.
The Camerons were married in Rockwall in in 1942 in the First Methodist Church in Rockwall, Texas six weeks after Elizabeth graduated from college.
The Camerons are celebrating their 67th anniversary and Raymond’s 90th birthday all in one party, and inviting all their friends from the community to join them.
The party will be held this Sunday, Sept. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 Yellow Jacket Lane.
Longtime Rockwall residents, the Camerons’ contributions to the community have been celebrated with MusicFest roasts and concerts, most recently the Rockwall Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of “Six Flags over Texas” which was performed at FUMC - Rockwall back in April.
The Camerons welcome all their friends to join them in this milestone celebration but add, “Your love and friendship are treasured gifts; we request no other.”
Those wishing to attend should RSVP to 972-771-6948.
