Royse City’s City Lake Park has lost its gazebo to a fire that at this time, is being considered suspicous, according to officials.
The gazebo overlooked and provided an over-the-water balcony for City Lake, a popular neighborhood fishing spot and picnic area in the Collin County section of old Royse City.
Royse City Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ricky Bell said on Monday that the investigation is ongoing.
According to Bell, the department was paged out at 6:46 a.m. and the fire was out at 7:08 a.m. No one was at the scene when the department arrived.
The city has contacted its insurance company. It is thought that the gazebo was built with grant money received in 1995.
