ROCKWALL —
The Rockwall County Commissioners Court approved a bid to waterproof the roof of the adult probation facility and authorized preliminary action on the issuance of $25.5 million in road bonds regular session Tuesday night.
The court began by approving a proclamation designating Oct. 7-14 as National 4-H Week, and will conduct more research on purchasing an artificial Christmas tree for the front of the county courthouse.
The $25.5 million of road bonds will be placed in a competitive bid process, as opposed to a structured sale, and are part of the $100 million worth of bonds the citizens of Rockwall County approved in 2008. The county has issued the full amount of the 2004 bond election, according to County Auditor Lisa Constant.
The leaking at the roof of the adult probation facility was also discussed in last week’s workshop. An independent company, CEI roofing Texas, LLC, investigated the roof to determine the cause of the leak, and they reported the leak was due to improper sealing along the windows on the roof. The court approved a bid of $3,972 from CEI to provide waterproofing services.
The court also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Children’s Center of Collin County for child forensic interviews for Rockwall County. The interviews will cost $200 an interview.
Three bids received by the county for vehicle services and maintenance for the next fiscal year were rejected by the court, which will allow county departments to use any of the three vendors as they see fit. According to County Clerk Shelli Miller, two of the companies are on a state approved list and are required to perform services and maintenance at a quoted price.
The court approved contracts for the upcoming fiscal year for a variety of road and bridge materials.
