FM-740 project to pave during night

Due to continuing high temperatures and excessive heat, the contractor for the FM-740 project cannot pour concrete during the day. Because cooler temperatures allow concrete to cure faster and the work to be completed quicker, Ed Bell Construction will pave 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., beginning August 6. Paving of the main lanes is estimated to be completed in three weeks.

Pouring concrete is a moving operation so there should be minimal impact on individual properties as the equipment passes by for a limited time.

Additional work during these hours, after the main lanes are paved, may be done at intersections - such as placing the pavement by hand - but this work won't involve the use of paving machines.

The work area stretches from Horizon Road in Rockwall to Smirl Drive in Heath.  The paving will start at the north end (in the City of Rockwall) and end at the south end (in the City of Heath).

Please contact Kerry Lively, Project Manager with the Texas Department of Transportation (972-962-3617) or Rockwall City Engineer Chuck Todd (972-771-7746) if you have any questions about the project.
