September means movies in the park

CNHI

Rockwall — “Movies in the Park” has transformed into “Fun Family Fridays,” a City of Rockwall Parks and Recreation old-time family event at some neighborhood parks in September.

Rockwall families can experience the fun of watching great movies in beautiful outdoor surroundings. There will be activities for the entire family and city booths set up by the fire department, animal service and the group from parks and recreation. Attendees can also get vital information about family emergency preparedness.

The event is also free of charge for all.

Kids can play before the movie, and family activities include wiffle ball home run contests and an obstacle course – with the chance to win prizes. Younger kids can enjoy a bounce house.

The fun starts at 7 p.m. and the movies at 8:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 3 at The Shores Park with the movie “Imagine That,” followed by:

Sept. 10 - Fox Chase Park (Up)

Sept. 17 - Hickory Ridge Park (Race to Witch Mountain)

Sept. 24 - North Shore Park (Snow Buddies)

Residents should bring an FM transistor radio tuned to 89.7 to listen to the movie, a blanket or lawn chairs and snacks for the family to enjoy a “night at the movies.” City officials urge attendees to come early to get a “front row seat” and to enjoy the pre-movie activities.
