‘Burt’ Cruse



Robert “Burt” Burton Cruse died Feb. 24, 2009.

He was born July 22, 1930, in Houston, to Percy Cruse M.D. and Ultima (Green) Cruse. Burt graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in business, worked for American General, Newby & Associates, and his own company, Cruse Engineered Products Co., (CEPCO) in the Dallas area. Upon semi-retirement, he was business manager for his daughter’s business, Aerial Works Gymnastics, in the Rockwall/Rowlett area. Burt was instrumental in forming two AA groups in the Rockwall and Rowlett areas and acted as a sponsor for many members.

He is survived by his children, Robert B. Cruse Jr. and wife Margaret of Rockwall, Christine Cruse Warrick and husband Tom of Rockwall, C. Tait Cruse and wife Joy of Frisco and Clayton H. Cruse and wife Holli of Plano and grandchildren Justin, Nathan, Mitch, Lexie, Trent, Kylie, Mackenzie, Connor, Carson, and Mason.

Burt was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., March 16, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel.

Visitation will be prior to the service.

Patricia Frazier



Patricia Pollard Frazier, 68, of Rockwall died in the early morning hours of March 9, 2009, at Presb yterian Hospital of Rockwall. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., March 12, in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville with Rev. David Farmer officiating. Burial followed in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 10, 1940, in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of William H. and Pearl Mills Pollard. She married Felix Andrew “Trip” Frazier III on Feb. 8, 1964, in Garland. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a full-time homemaker and an avid bird watcher who loved the outdoors and enjoyed their annual trips to Colorado. Mrs. Frazier was a Baptist.

Surviving are her husband of Rockwall; daughter Stephanie Hohimer and husband Jeremy of Royse City and grandchildren Jonathan Malone and Kale Malone; son Felix Andrew “Andy” Frazier IV of Quinlan and grandchildren Casey Frazier, Felix Andrew “Drew” Frazier V and Tanner Frazier; two sisters, Ann Whitehurst of Blue Springs, Mo., and Susan Farmer and husband David of Longview; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Eckert, Byron Frazier, Steve Frazier, Jeremy Hohimer, Jonathan Malone and Reagin Parnell.

Although Mrs. Frazier did not have cancer, she was a strong activist towards cancer and memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Thomas Lofland



WILLS POINT — Funeral services for Thomas Lofland, 82, of Wills Point, formerly of Rockwall, were held at 10 a.m., March 11, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point with Rev. Ray Reed and Rev. Bill Hedges officiating. Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mr. Lofland died the afternoon of March 8, 2009, in a Terrell hospital.

Thomas was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Rockwall, son of Thomas Sydney and Lily Aquila Poindexter Lofland. He was raised in Rockwall where he graduated from Rockwall High School. Thomas was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. On April 6, 1947, he married Vera E. Peace in Rockwall. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1979. He lived in Rockwall prior to moving to Wills Point in 1983. He enjoyed gardening, raising Simmental cattle and fishing. Thomas was a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gladys Maynard; four brothers, Raymond, Dick, J.L. and Corry Lofland; and a son-in-law, Charles Kinser.

Survivors include his wife of Wills Point; four daughters, Toni Kinser and Jody Lofland of Rockwall, Linda Slejko and husband Steve of Mesquite and Lisa Bailey and husband Bob of Blaine, Wash.; one brother, Robert Lofland and wife Betty of Rockwall; two sisters, Frances Dixon of Garland and Juanita Myers and husband Tom of Rockwall; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Florence, Robert Wayne Lofland, Keith Lofland, Randy Lofland, Glen Burks and Sam Florence. Honorary pallbearers were Dairy Queen buddies
