ROCKWALL COUNTY —
Elmer T. Campbell, 94, of Rockwall passed away April 15, 2010.
He was born April 7, 1916, in Cleburne to William Charles and Mabel Lillian (Reed) Campbell.
Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS New Jersey, and at the end of the war he traveled to Japan. Elmer made his living as a printer in the media industry and was a member of the Lions Club and was a Methodist.
He loved sports and was Rockwall’s No. 1 fan. Elmer had followed Rockwall sports since 1950 and until 1994 only missed one football game. He was a member of the Quarter Century Jacket Backers and the RHS baseball complex was named after him and his wife, Reesie.
Elmer is survived by his daughter, Loretta Cameron of Rockwall; granddaughter Tina Jones and husband Scott of Grand Saline; son-in-law Ed Wheeler of Rockwall; two stepgrandchildren, David L. and Stephanie M. Wheeler; great-grandchildren Cody Akins and wife Trish, Justin and Jeremy Jones and Seth Wilkerson; stepgreat-grandchildren Randy Wheeler, Brandi Wheeler Green, Brandon K. Baker, Tobey J. Baker and Jason T. Evans; great-great-grandchildren Kenley Akins and Kennedy and Kollin Kizza; step great-great-grandchildren David and Sade Green; an adopted son, Jimmy Day and wife Lisa and their daughters Hollie, Heather and Haley; and a sister, Ada Nolan of Riverside, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Reesie Campbell; two daughters, Elane Wheeler and Rose Marie Campbell; a grandson, Dale Cameron; great-grandson Johnny Lewellen; and brother W.C. “Chubby” Campbell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., April 17, at First Baptist Church, M.L. Jones Chapel in Rockwall with Rev. Paul McDill officiating. Interment followed in Rockwall Memorial Cemetery.

Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
