District 10-4A champion Rockwall was originally scheduled to open post-season action tonight against McKinney North and runnerup Heath takes on McKinney in two best-of-three series for 2009 Class 4A bi-district softball championships.
The swine flu scare has changed all of that.
Rockwall, which captured its first-ever outright district softball title this season, will square off against McKinney North, which ended its regular season ranked No. 8 in the Metroplex and fourth in District 9-4A.
No. 6-ranked RHS (13-1, 23-10) finished regular-season play with 10 straight victories after losing to Class 5A No. 3 Rowlett 5-6 on March 21.
The Lady Jackets closed out their 2009 regular season with a 12-0 rout of Greenville on Friday. Kat Brown hurled a 3-hitter with eight strikeouts to pick up the win.
Catcher Audrey Farfan led the way at the plate with a triple and a double. Texas State University recruit Haley Lemons, who is sporting a .487 batting average, recorded three hits and Shelby Frierson, Bailey Frierson, Ashton Atwell and Carlie Jenkins all posted two hits to lead the Lady Jackets into the playoffs.
Rockwall-Heath's standout senior pitcher Chelsey Eddy will lead the Lady Hawks against McKinney after closing regular-season play with three wins, including two perfect games and 29 strikeouts.
Eddy heads into the playoffs with 20 victories on the mound, a 1.05 ERA and 244 strikeouts. Kaeleigh Lutz and Sarah Deimling carry batting averages of .494 and .487 into post season.
No. 7-ranked Heath (12-2, 25-8) will host No. 4 McKinney (11-3, 24-8-1), which ended its regular season in a 3-way tie for the District 9-4A championship.
