YMCA signing up athletes for soccer and volleyball

The YMCA is currently in the process of signing up young athletes in the sports of soccer and volleyball.

Small Fry soccer participates on Wednesdays of each week. One hour will be divided into a half-hour practice and half-hour scrimmage.

Coaches meetings for soccer/small fry soccer is scheduled for Feb. 20

Volleyball coaches meeting is scheduled for March 4. A 7 to 10 day grace period is given to those coaches to make player contacts.

Coaches are responsible for communication on the following: practice schedule, game schedule, picture schedule, uniforms, etc. Additional fees apply for uniforms, team pictures, and any other item the team and/or coach deems necessary.

New to the YMCA (for soccer only), teams play a total of nine games.

Volleyball will play an eight game season plus a Memorial volleyball tournament at the end of the season for an additional cost of $25 per player. All proceeds from the tournament will help fund YMCA scholarships.

Soccer and volleyball will receive a participation medal at the completion of the season.

Games can be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays at any time. Small fry will only be held on Wednesdays.

Registration must be done by a parent or guardian and in person at the YMCA.

The YMCA does not accept mailed or faxed registrations

More information is available at the Rockwall County YMCA, 1210 N. Goliad, Rockwall or by calling 972-772-9622.

Financial Assistance is available. The mission of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is to put Christian values into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
