YMCA signing up athletes for soccer and volleyball
The YMCA is currently in the process of signing up young athletes in the sports of soccer and volleyball.
Small Fry soccer participates on Wednesdays of each week. One hour will be divided into a half-hour practice and half-hour scrimmage.
Coaches meetings for soccer/small fry soccer is scheduled for Feb. 20
Volleyball coaches meeting is scheduled for March 4. A 7 to 10 day grace period is given to those coaches to make player contacts.
Coaches are responsible for communication on the following: practice schedule, game schedule, picture schedule, uniforms, etc. Additional fees apply for uniforms, team pictures, and any other item the team and/or coach deems necessary.
New to the YMCA (for soccer only), teams play a total of nine games.
Volleyball will play an eight game season plus a Memorial volleyball tournament at the end of the season for an additional cost of $25 per player. All proceeds from the tournament will help fund YMCA scholarships.
Soccer and volleyball will receive a participation medal at the completion of the season.
Games can be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays at any time. Small fry will only be held on Wednesdays.
Registration must be done by a parent or guardian and in person at the YMCA.
The YMCA does not accept mailed or faxed registrations

Parents will receive a call after the Coaches meeting from the Coach detailing practice times and dates.

Tracksters win 12 medals at Norris Relays

Rockwall, Heath gymnasts take second, third at district
It was the first time for Rockwall-Heath High School to host the district gymnastics competition.
The result was a third place finish for the Hawks in both the boys and girls competition. Rockwall took the silver in both categories. -
Baseball Hawks make it 11 in-a-row
The Rockwall-Heath baseball Hawks went 5-0 at the Burleson Classic last weekend and 10-run ruled Greenville in the district opener on Tuesday to make it 11 straight victories for the 2010 season.

RISD softball teams kick off district action
WYLIE - Both Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath softball teams closed out the Wylie Invitational Tournament last weekend with losing records before kicking off District 10-4A play on Tuesday.
Rockwall opened the tournament with four losses before winning games against Class 5A powers Rowlett and North Mesquite. -
RISD tracksters rule at Bulldog Relays
The Rockwall Lady Jackets and Heath Lady Hawks track teams captured the championship and runnerup trophies in dominating fashion at the Bulldog Relays on Saturday at RCISD Stadium.
The RHS girls racked up 138 points en route to the title and the RHHS girls put up 119 for second-place honors. -
Hodan captures gold and silver
Heath swimming standout Jacey Hodan captured gold and silver medals to lead the Lady Hawks to their 10th-place team finish at the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jamail Texas Swim Center last weekend.

Heath's soccer Hawks won two games over the last week, including a heads-up 1-0 battle against Rockwall on Friday at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium.

Tanner takes fifth at state
Rockwall-Heath's David Tanner closed out his wrestling career by claiming fifth-place honors last weekend at the UIL State Championships in Austin at the AISD Delco Center.
