ROCKWALL —
Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath volleyball teams combined to win four District 12-5A matches without losing a set during the last week.
Rockwall-Heath knocked off Mesquite 3-0 (25-17,25-20,25-23) on Friday at RHHS gymnasium and bested North Mesquite in Mesquite 3-0 (25-14,25-20,25-10) on Tuesday.
The Lady Hawks are undefeated in district play with a 9-0 record and hold a two game lead over Rockwall (7-2).
Standout Regina Tillis still holds the Class 5A Area Kill lead with 503 and Digs lead with 462.
Haley Coleman is 10th in Kills with 308 and Claire Carpenter is second in assists with 634.
Rockwall rolled over Mesquite Horn 3-0 (25-17,25-9,25-7) in Mesquite on Friday and swept Mesquite 3-0 (25-15,25-23,25-7) on “Volley For The Cure” night at RHS gymnasium Tuesday.
The Jacket Freshmen also won 2-0 and the JV swept the Skeeters 2-0.
The Mesquite varsity kept it close at 6-7 before Rockwall pulled away for a 16-7 advantage and closed out the 25-15 first set on kills by Bailey Smith and Jacqueline Ullmann.
In the second set, Mesquite built leads of 16-11, 21-18 and 22-20 before RHS outscored the Lady Skeeters 5-1 to close out the set at 25-23.
Ashlyn Broussard, who ranks ninth in Class 5A Area Kills with 310, crushed kill shots for the 21st and 23rd points to spark the rally.
In the third set, Becca Floyd served up 15 straight points before Mesquite hit the scoreboard with a kill. Rockwall then cruised to a 25-7 final-set win for the sweep.
Broussard led the Lady Jackets with 12 kills and two aces, Ullmann posted 10 kills, one ace and one block, Kelsey Gaertner put up six kills and two aces, Lindsey Wheeler had six kills and one block, Katherine Jowers added five kills, Smith four kills and one ace and Floyd two kills and four aces.
