MESQUITE — Rockwall-Heath's Brianna Richardson captured gold in the long jump and triple jump to pace RISD track and field athletes to 12 medals at the Carl Norris Relays on Saturday at Mesquite's Hanby Stadium.
Richardson jumped a personal-best 39-10 1/2 to win the triple jump and 17-01 to claim the long jump at the highly-competitive meet featuring several of the area's top teams.
Dallas Skyline, winner of multiple state championships, racked up 146 points to win the girls team title over Garland (125) and Hebron (83) and the Hebron boys posted 163 points to claim the championship, with Highland Park second (124) and North Mesquite third (102.50).
Rockwall's girls finished fourth (58) and Heath seventh (41) in the team standings, while the RHS boys came in sixth (39) and RHHS seventh (23).
Bringing home more gold medals for Rockwall were Alicia Janke in the girls pole vault with a leap of 10-06 and Justin Boss in the boys pole vault with a vault of 12-06. Jonathan Fuller added a third gold for Heath to go with Richardson's double when he jumped 6-05 to win the boys high jump.
Lady Jackets Angie Boyd and Sheely Taylor finished second and third respectively in the 3200 with times of 12:28.88 and 12:39.00, Lindsay Loy earned a silver medal with her second-place tie in the pole vault (10-00) and Kaitlin Ross ran 59.60 for the bronze medal in the 400.
Sara Cuzick threw the discus 100-07 for fourth place, Vertashia Dean heaved the shot 33-11 1/2 for fourth place and Ellie Moses tied for fourth in the pole vault (9-0) to help the RHS girls to their fourth-place team finish.
Heath's Aly Coughlin finished third in the 800 (2:25.40) and fourth in the 1600 (5:43.61) despite competing with an injured calf. Vaulter Brittany Wenger also added a tie for fourth place in the pole vault (9-00) for the Lady Hawks.
In the boys division Rockwall distance runner Jacob Phillips captured second place in the 1600 with his time of 4:33.70 and Thorne Pettigrew ran 2:01.80 for the bronze medal in the 800. Will Beasley just missed a medal with his fourth-place finish in the 100 (11.10).
Seph Stiles booked a fourth-place finish for the Heath boys with his 11-06 in the pole vault, Sebastian Curry posted a fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.65) and Bryan Foster put up a fifth in the shot with his put of 43-01.
