Soccer Hawks tie league-leader Pearce 2-2

HEATH — Rockwall-Heath's soccer Hawks kept themselves in the District 21-4A championship picture with a 2-2 tie against league-leader Richardson Pearce on Tuesday at the RHHS soccer field.

Pearce (6-0-3) jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Luis Barajas and Ricky Davies, but Heath (5-3-1) rebounded strong in the second half with two goals of its own. Chase Minter ripped the first Hawks goal and Brandon Lu put in the tying score with just over 11 minutes remaining off a free kick by Minter.

The Hawks also posted a 3-0 district win over Highland Park on Friday with Lu, Guillermo Medina and Isaac Esquivel booking goals for RHHS.

Rockwall's boys lost a 3-0 decision to Lovejoy on Friday and fell to The Colony 2-1 on Tuesday to drop to fifth place (2-6-1) in 21-4A play. Christian Soldat scored the Jackets goal against The Colony.

The Rockwall girls kept themselves in the middle of the 21-4A playoff hunt with a 3-0 win over Lovejoy on Friday and a 2-0 victory versus The Colony on Tuesday.

Bethany Schomin banged in two goals and Jessie Givens added one against Lovejoy, and Randi Soldat and Allie Wentzel put up one goal each in the win over The Colony.

Highland Park leads the district standings with its 8-1-0 record with Pearce second at 7-1-0 and Rockwall third at 4-3-2.
