ROCKWALL —
Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath volleyball teams are dominating the competition in District 12-5A and stand together atop the standings four games into the district schedule.
Rockwall racked up a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-11) victory over Mesquite on Friday and followed with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-22) win over North Mesquite on Tuesday to stay undefeated at 4-0.
Heath posted a 3-0 (25-11, 25-5, 25-12) win against North Mesquite on Friday and then rolled over Longview 3-0 (25-13, 25-6, 25-8) on Tuesday to improve to 4-0 in district play.
Claire Carpenter, who is one of the Metroplex-area leaders in assists with 495, got the Lady Hawks off on the right track with nine straight service points for a 9-0 early lead over Longview.
The Lady Lobos were never able to cut into the lead, falling to the Hawks 25-13 in the opening set.
In the second set, Haley Coleman ripped off 10 straight serves with three aces and Regina Tillis put down seven service points to lead RHHS to a 25-6 second set rout.
Grace Howell and Brianne Lacy then combined for 12 service points in the third set to pace Heath to a 25-8 win and a 3-0 victory.
Coleman, who entered this week with 250 kills in 72 games to rank among the area kill leaders, led RHHS with 13 kills, three aces and two blocks.
Tillis, who ranks No. 1 in the area in kills with 414 in 72 games, logged 11 kills and two aces against Longview.
Also putting up big stats in the victory were Carpenter with three kills, two aces and multiple assists, Molly Nelson with five kills and Beth Rose with four kills.
Heath will host Mesquite Horn tonight for Homecoming and take on Argyle on Tuesday before the big crosstown battle with Rockwall on Sept. 28.
Rockwall has a bye tonight, then meets Tyler Lee on Tuesday before hosting Heath next Friday for district supremacy.

The Rockwall softball team finally knocked off Plano East in its fourth attempt of the 2013 season and won the Class 5A area championship in the process.
