ROCKWALL —
Rockwall’s tennis Jackets knocked off a tough Tyler Lee team 12-7 at the Wilkerson-Sanders Tennis Facility last week.
The RHS girls doubles teams went undefeated and girls singles players won five of the six matches to spark the victory.
The No. 1 team of Matthews/Housewright won its match 6-2, 6-0, the No. 2 team of Neskovic/Milner won 6-1, 6-0 and the No. 3 tandem of Byrom/Crawford defeated the Lee No. 3 team 6-2, 6-1.
Hailee Housewright won her singles match 7-6, 6-0, Tiana Neskovic won 6-0, 6-2, Sarah Byrom 6-1, 6-3, Karly Matthews 6-1, 6-1 and Maddie Milner 7-5, 4-6, 13-11.
Rockwall just missed a complete sweep in girls play when No. 1 Hannah Duncan fell in a three set battle 0-6, 6-1, 5-10.
Duncan and Mixed Doubles partner Josh Newman also dropped their first match of the season 6-7, 4-6.
In boys action, the No. 3 doubles team of Wolfie Seibert/Troy Bruner defeated Lee 6-7, 6-3, 10-5 for Rockwall’s only win. No. 1 Hogland/Hudson fell 4-6, 6-7 and No. 2 Hayley/Wellington lost 3-6, 3-6.
Brandon Hudson won his No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-4, No. 5 James Wellington defeated Lee 6-3, 6-7, 10-3 and No. 6 Cooper Hayley won his match 3-6, 6-3, 14-12.
RHS tennis players hit the road to Longview this week to take on the Lobos, a team they edged at the Texarkana Invitational. Rockwall won the final three matches on the court to post the victory.

SOFTBALL: Lady Jackets top East in fourth meeting, advance to region quarterfinals
The Rockwall softball team finally knocked off Plano East in its fourth attempt of the 2013 season and won the Class 5A area championship in the process.
