The Rockwall boys cross country team ran to the championship of the Forney Jackrabbit Run on Saturday at Forney’s Community Park.
The Jacket team of Justin Tokuz, Robbie Harmon, Spencer McKee, Colt Ramsey, Anthony Ray, Sam Fox and Arturo Almazan put up 68 points to defeat second-place North Mesquite (75) and third-place Royse City (84) over the muddy layout in drizzling rain.
Tokuz led the way for Rockwall with his third-place finish (17:38), Harmon finished seventh (18:13), McKee came in 10th (18:49), Ramsey 19th (19:06) and Ray 32nd (19:46). Fox finished in 37th place (20:05) and Almazan 52nd (21:04).
Heath’s team of Austin James (17th), German Zaldivar (25th), Keith Monserate (36th), Ian Campo (54th) and Nick Killian (55th) chalked up 178 points for eighth place. Beto Arando also came in 61st and Sam Selle finished 67th for the Hawks.
The Royse City team of Curtis Quarrels (10th), Grayson Gilkey (13th), Trey Gilliland (19th), Ty Garrett (20th) and Daniel Tijerina (22nd) claimed third-place honors with 84 team points.
Forney’s girls ran away with the title in the girls competition, rolling up 24 team points and placing four runners in the Top-10, including winner Caylon McMillan with her time of 19:19.
Heath’s Emily Fletcher topped RISD runners with her 21:13 for seventh place.
Rockwall’s Maiya Collins finished 10th (22:03) and Emily Drewery came in 11th (22:05) to pace RHS to its fourth-place team finish with 91 points.
Amanda Thorton finished 28th, Angie Boyd 30th, Hannah Edwards 31st, Jordan Pettigrew 34th and Bailey Hines 39th for the Lady Jackets.
Joining Fletcher in leading Heath to 116 points and sixth place were Lindsey Archuleta (26th), Mykala Williams (33rd), Caitlin Hudecek (35th) and Ryann Jones (37th). Nina Jaimes also came in 42nd, Callie Crawford 44th and Courtney Munoz 46th.
Rockwall’s JV boys also won the championship at the Jackrabbit Run with North Forney second and North Mesquite third. Wyatt Wilson finished sixth, Michael Lawrence eighth, Carter Smith ninth and Nick Thompson 10th to lead the Jackets.
Rockwall’s girls finished third in the JV division behind Forney and North Mesquite. Shelby Rowe led the way with her fourth-place finish.
Rockwall will host its annual The Sting Invitational on Saturday at Harry Myers Park, with the first race beginning at 8:30 a.m.
