Rockwall County —
All over town, the sights and sounds of Fall are making their annual appearance as students prepare to go back to school, and all the extracurricular activity that goes along with it.
Rockwall High School recognized and honored its 2010-2011 athletic teams, band, trainers, Stingerettes and all those associated with its athletic program at the annual Meet The Jackets gala at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium on Saturday.
The yearly event gives athletes an opportunity to mingle with teammates and others representing RHS athletics and to be honored by the community.
The Rockwall Orange Wave Band took the field first followed by a welcome to athletes, parents, fans and supporters by Jacket assistant coach Branson Washburn.
The Yellowjacket freshman, JV and varsity cheerleaders then kicked off the night with cheers and acrobatics, followed by the procession of Stingerettes, trainers and each of the 16 athletics teams.
With much of the WSS field covered by participants the band then played the school song and closed out the program with everyone excited about the upcoming athletic year.
The Mighty Hawk Band of Rockwall-Heath High School took to the streets with their annual March-a-Thon that marks the arrival of a new school year.
The six-mile hike took the band through neighborhoods in Buffalo Creek and Lofland Farms as well as giving the students the opportunity to perform mini-concerts at local area businesses.
The event is also a fund raising opportunity for the 200-member band to support their many activities throughout the year.
Small crowds have made their way to area stadiums as scrimmages hinted at coming football contests. Rockwall began their football season last night at home with Heath following tonight.
