HEATH —
Rockwall-Heath’s wrestling team finished third, despite missing five starters, at the highly-regarded Ranger Classic at Dallas Jesuit High School last weekend.
The Hawks racked up 159.0 team points to finish behind Lake Highlands (178.5) and Flower Mound (174.5) in a closely-contested battle that featured 24 top teams.
“We competed very well, especially with five kids missing,” said head coach Shane Seleznoff.
Nakona Brawner came in second in the 132-pound weight class, Jacob Glastad claimed second place in the 160-pound division and Troy Mercer finished as runnerup in the 195-pound class to lead RHHS at the Classic.
B.K. Sanford and Jay Arnold earned third-place honors, with Sanford in the 113-pound class and Arnold in the 285-pound division.
The Hawks were scheduled to square off against Plano at Plano High School yesterday as a final prep for the District 19 championship in Henderson on February 4th.
