Fulton outscores GCS

HCA downs Carrollton Christian by 50

ROCKWALL — Fulton’s Falcons knocked off three-time TAPPS D1 state champion Greenville Christian School 78-50 in a non-district matchup at the Heath Turf Field last Friday.

The No. 7-ranked Falcons built a 52-36 halftime lead, but watched GCS close to within eight points at 50-58 before they pulled away for the 28-point victory.

Falcon QBs Conner Cleveland and Todd Treadway combined for nine touchdowns through the air, with Cleveland putting up 12-of-14 passing for 192 yards and three TDs and Treadway hitting eight-of-15 for 180 yards and six TDs.

Treadway also rushed for 62 yards on eight carries, caught five receptions for 105 yards and two TDs and led the team in tackles with 13.

Junior Hayden Leverett also had a big game for the Falcons, rushing for 65 yards and one TD on six carries, hauling in five passes for 119 yards and three TDs and posting a forced fumble, fumble recovery and a sack on defense.

Sophomore Brenner Newman pulled down six receptions for 65 yards and four touchdowns and chalked up seven tackles on defense.

Senior captain Ryan Stockton had two receptions for 55 yards and one TD on offense and picked off an interception on defense.

The Falcons tough non-district schedule doesn’t get any better this week. They take on defending TCAF D1 state champion and current No. 2-ranked Lucas Christian on Saturday.

Coach Josh Johnson feels that with a good week of practice the Falcons have a good chance to pull off the upset on the Lucas home field. “The guys are playing really well now. We just need to get through this part of the schedule healthy and I think we will set some records in the playoffs.”

Heritage Christian Academy, ranked No. 6 in TAPPS Six-Man Division 1, rolled over Carrollton Christian 70-20 in Carrollton last Friday.

Wes Fleetwood rushed for 179 yards and two TDs on nine carries and Wyatt French added 116 yards and two TDs on 11 carries to lead the Eagles on the ground.

QB Garrett Blankenship went 5-for-9 passing for 123 yards and four touchdowns, with Josh Edge hauling in three receptions for 52 yards and two TDs.

Edge also had a sack for a safety and French blocked a PAT in the 45-point mercy rule game.

The Eagles have a bye this week before hitting the gridiron again next Friday against Campbell at Wisdom Stadium.

Campbell lost to McKinney Cornerstone 33-27 last Friday, fell to Greenville Phoenix 55-8 in Week 2, lost to Wylie Prep 45-0 in Week 1 and defeated Balch Springs Christian 33-22 in Zero Week.

Campbell (1-3) is ranked No. 71 in UIL Division 1.
