The Rockwall girls and boys gymnastics teams swept their own tri-meet against perennial state powers L.D. Bell and Odessa Permian at the RHS gymnastics gym last Thursday.
The girls put up 114.500 points to secure first place, with Bell second at 108.900 points and Permian third at 99.050 points. The ladies won all four disciplines with a 28.050 on Vault, 28.700 on Bars, 29.000 on Beam and 28.750 on Floor.
Freshman Laura Arce captured the girls all-around with a score of 38.400. She finished first on Vault (9.500), first on Bars (9.700), second on Beam (9.700) and third on Floor (9.500).
Emily Pettett, Sarah Beasley and Jenna Jeffrey also posted Top-10 finishes in all-around to spark the win.
Pettett claimed third place with a 36.700, including a second on Vault (9.450), tie for third on Beam (9.400), tie for fourth on Floor (9.350) and a ninth place on Bars (9.400).
Beasley came in fourth with a 36.550 after taking second place on Floor (9.600), a tie for third on Bars (9.400), sixth place on Beam (9.000) and ninth on Vault (8.550).
Jeffrey finished first on Floor (9.650) and second on Bars (9.600) en route to her 19.250 for 10th place in all-around.
Kailea Coles claimed first place on Beam with her 9.900 and finished third on Vault (9.100) for her 11th place in all-around.
Other Top-20 finishers for the girls were Megan Inglis (13), Tori Hedges (14), Amber Zolman (17) and Hayden Raney (19).
Rockwall’s boys team also won top honors at the meet, edging Permian 150.100-148.500 with Bell putting up 142.900 for third place.
RHS finished first in Pommel (24.300) and High Bar (22.900), second on Vault (27.400) and Parallel Bars (24.900) and third on Floor (25.800) and Rings (24.800).
Michael Weidman, Zach Bennett and Luke Bennett racked up Top-10 finishes to lead Rockwall to its first place in the boys team standings.
Weidman finished second in all-around (50.300), first on Pommel (8.400), second on Parallel Bars (8.600), third on Floor (8.700), fourth on Vault (9.200), fifth on High Bar (7.300) and eighth on Rings (8.100).
Zach Bennett grabbed fourth place in all-around (48.700), with a second on High Bar (8.000), sixth on Pommel (7.400), seventh on Floor (8.500), 11th on Rings (7.900) and 11th on Vault (8.700).
Luke Bennett scored 47.400 points for sixth place in all-around, with a second on Pommel (8.000), fifth on Parallel Bars (8.100), seventh on Rings (8.200), eighth on High Bar (6.600), eighth on Vault (8.900) and 17th on Floor (7.600).
Jayson Copes and Holt Erwin earned Top-20 finishes for RHS, with Copes 18th and Erwin 20th.
Bryce Singer added a fourth place on High Bar (7.600) and Caleb Waller scored 8.500 for fourth place on Rings.
