ROCKWALL —
Rockwall’s Yellowjackets moved into third place in District 12-5A after routing Tyler Lee 40-0 last Friday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
After giving up an average 40 points per game in their first seven games, Rockwall’s shutout against Lee sends the Jackets into bye week with a two-game district win streak and riding their biggest high of the season.
The final two games of regular season will be a huge test for the Jackets, however. They face undefeated 12-5A leader Mesquite (8-0,4-0) on Friday, November 2nd at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium and close against Longview on Friday, November 9th at Lobo Stadium.
They will most likely have to win one of those games to earn one of the four playoff berths from District 12-5A.
Against Lee, Chris Warren and Zach Berryman combined for 284 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead Rockwall to the win.
Warren racked up 184 yards and two TDs on 23 carries and Berryman added 100 yards, including a 53-yard TD run, on six carries.
QB Dylan Campman also ran three times for 11 yards and one touchdown and Xavier Castille put up 22 yards and one TD on seven carries as Rockwall scored all five TDs on the ground.
Campman threw for 58 yards on six-of-nine passing, with Castille catching three for 27 yards, Berryman two for 14 yards and Warren one for 17 yards.
Tyler Bonny and Austin Morton aslo added field goals of 22 and 45 yards for the Jackets.
Leading the way on defense were Josh Rippy with nine tackles, Jared Farrow with eight tackles, Chris Hinckley with seven tackles and Daniel Roland with five tackles.
Sean Hardenbrook shut down Lee’s best scoring opportunity with an interception in the end zone and was selected Co-Player of the Game, along with John Wright.
